You are the brand! Act like it! Talk like it! Dress like it and by doing this you will begin to define your brand. Now if you are going to show up to work looking like "the help" you may open the door very unconsciously to others treating you like the help.
If you are going to walk the streets looking like "the help" then you will be looked at as the help (perception is reality for most people.) I know you may not care what other's think but that's how stereotypes are perpetuated. Ok, by now you should have no doubt about how much I respect you and have a sincere love for you all. So let's talk about some of the things that MUST CHANGE!
1. If you are leaving home with a head tie on dressed to go to work please reconsider this (unless you are doing it for religious reasons) it's just not appropriate for work.
2. I love leggings quite a bit and when you use the right blouse it's so comfortable for the days you are out trekking with the kids, but know when it's time to only use them at home- No washout looking leggings!
3. The really massive hoop earrings may not be appropriate if you are working with toddlers in fact they really don't look professional.
4. There's a difference between dressing down and looking like "what the heck just happened to my sister".
5. Save some of your jewelry for the ball. You don't need a ring on each finger. Don't worry we know you've got this area covered.
The way you present yourself tells an entire story about who you are. Now whether the story is factual or not, remember your appearance helps initiate that story. So let's all take some extra time to present ourselves the best way possible-you deserve that!
