What causes someone to violate another and make that violation look like an acceptable norm? How is it possible that a nanny employer could have a nanny (another human-being) work in her home, care for 6 children and pay her $350 a week for over 60 hours of work? What causes one to have such disregard for another?
Why would a nanny employer emotionally manipulate a vulnerable human being by insisting that she will not give her a recommendation if the nanny does not do all of the unrealistic tasks she's given daily?
When I hear about stories like these I feel like I'm having a bad nightmare yet I quickly realize that these heartwrenching stories are what some have to endure each day.
What gives me hope however is that these horrible stories are not only upsetting to nannies but also to many nanny employers too- in fact to all those who see value in the humanity of others. Additionally as nannies begin to feel empowered because of the strength which exists in community they will begin to reject some of these horrible work situations. #darkunderbellyofthenannyworld ...
