I wanted to nominate my caregiver, Merlene Isaacs, for your Friday nanny spotlight. Merlene has been with my family for less than a year, but it is hard to remember how we functioned without her. Merlene approaches caring for my one year old son with a seriousness and professionalism that gives me such comfort as a working mom. She makes my son’s safety and happiness her #1 priority, and goes above and beyond to create happy environment for him. He lights up when she arrives each weekday morning, and so does she.
Merlene truly goes above and beyond. Rather than enjoy some well-deserved rest, she uses her “free time” (i.e., when my son is napping) to cook wholesome, home-cooked food for him. Since I am helpless in the kitchen, every Friday, she even prepares food for us to feed him through the weekend. It makes me feel so good to know he is eating healthfully, and saves me an enormous amount of time.
Merlene supports our family in other ways, too. She is always open to coming in early or staying late when things come up with work. In fact, she will be caring for our son this weekend while we are out of town for a wedding. She often reminds me that we are a team, and I’m so glad she’s part of mine.
