Welcome to The Story of My Nanny Circle!
Over a decade ago, I, Alene Mathurin, found myself in Manhattan, caring for the most adorable twin girls. At the cusp of my undergraduate studies, my heart was torn. Driven by the tales of opportunity, I journeyed to America, spurred by Oprah’s proclamation that it was the best place to be a woman. Yet, as I embarked on my educational journey, I discovered another facet of greatness – the community of nannies.

My Nanny Circle has been a very positive experience for me as a Nanny and Newborn Care Specialist. I have met some of the best professionals at My Nanny Circle Training Workshops and the My Nanny Circle Holiday Ball! My experience has been so magical with so many great women from all different walks of life. Women who are so passionate about the work they do every day. Being part of a circle of caring friends and nannies, and experiencing social and educational paths in my passionate professional nanny life has been exhilarating, heartwarming, and the most beautiful feeling, especially when my employer families are just as excited as I am to be within the circle. As a retired nanny who has dedicated 33 years to the profession, I consider myself an honorary member of My Nanny Circle until death do us part!
My Nanny Circle has been a staple in the wider community and in the New York City/Tri-State area. From encouragement, advice and making lifelong friendships with other Nannies that makes this very lonely career so full of conversation and camaraderie! When I reflect on how "My Nanny Circle Community" has impacted and inspired me, I don't have to dig deep to answer. Because I want to excel in the nanny world, and thanks to this community, I can pursue it with colors flying so brightly. I also stumbled upon these two quotes that sum up what this community means to me:

Joining the My Nanny Circle Facebook group has truly been a game-changer for me. From the moment I became a part of this community, I instantly felt a sense of belonging. The support and camaraderie among members are unmatched, and it's incredible how many doors this group has opened for me professionally. But beyond the professional opportunities, the most invaluable aspect of My Nanny Circle has been the friendships I've formed. Some of my closest nanny friends today are individuals I met through this group. We share experiences, offer advice, and uplift each other through the ups and downs of nanny life. Overall, My Nanny Circle is more than just a Facebook group – it's a vibrant community that fosters connection, growth, and support among nannies. I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of it.
I encountered MNC around late 2016. Before joining the MNC Family, what I learned had become an essential part of my identity as a nanny. Prior to discovering MNC, I kept my nanny profession low-key because I didn't want to face judgment. However, after joining MNC, I had to retrain my mindset by educating myself to become a professional nanny and embracing my title proudly. I've gained immense knowledge, improved my social interactions, and undergone personal development in the nanny world. Today, I'm incredibly proud to be part of MNC. My Nanny Circle! Wow, My Nanny Circle, there's so much to say about the positive aspects of my career as a nanny for the past 28 years or more. The first time I heard about the Nanny Circle community, I was just starting in the industry.Being part of the Nanny Circle, I have learned how to become qualified and certified, how to communicate with my employer, and how to negotiate my salary. I learned about my entitlements on the job, such as sick days and vacation time. We were also encouraged to take many classes about childcare and self-care. I've been a member of My Nanny Circle since April 2016. My Nanny Circle has positively impacted my life as a domestic worker in many ways. I didn't know about my rights as a domestic worker. I was taken advantage of in my current job at the time when I attended a "nanny fundamental skills training event." Upon entering the event, I learned so many things about nannies and how we can advocate for ourselves and enforce our rights to improve our lives. Alene is a true gem. She has made a positive impact on many of us domestic workers. I appreciate the incredible job that "My Nanny Circle" has done and continues to do for its members. I can attest to that, having had the privilege of being selected as one of the nanny awardees for nanny excellence and receiving an acknowledgment award as a dedicated advocate for domestic workers.
